“Naurouz”, which means new day, is a very old pagan holiday going back to the Zoroastrian tradition, celebrating the first day of spring (Vernal Equinox & beginning of the Zodiac calendar). “Naurouz” aka Persian New Year is celebrated in many places, such as Afghanistan, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Georgia, Iran, Kurdistan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan.
Join us in this celebration of the renewal that spring brings.
We will feature live music and a special menu:
First Course
Kadu Borani: Butternut squash cooked according to an old family recipe, with brown sugar, cayenne pepper, ginger and other spices, topped with yogurt sauce.
Second Course
Kabuli Pilau: Basmati rice browned with caramelized onions, cooked with boneless chicken in a special blend of exotic spices including cloves, cardamom, cinnamon, coriander and cumin. Served with julienne of carrots and raisins.
Dessert
Haft Mewa: Traditional new year day dessert, made with seven dried fruits (beware of pits) and nuts in their natural syrup.
